5 days Golf-Camping-Tour trough Austria

Day 1 (Arrival)

You are getting via Passau (Germany) to Upper Austria. Approximately 20 minutes after crossing the border in Breitenberg (Germany), you´ll arrive in the Golfpark Böhmerwald surrounded by the  beautiful hill landscape of the Mühlviertel. The free parking for your RV is located in the parking lots. The parking lot is still without basic services but the place is shady and flat. If you make it for about 1.5 hours before sunset, so we recommend a round on the 9-hole Panorama Course (Par 29) before dinner. If you are too late to play golf, then worth a little walk around the facility. Behind the clubhouse a short walk goes up to a small chapel. From there you have a wonderful view on the extensive massif of the Bohemian Forest. Showers and toilets are open from 6:00 AM to at least 9:00 PM, the restaurant "Seitelschläger GOLFWIRT" - where you should  enjoy finest regional food and fine beers from Austria, Germany an the Czech Republic! It is advisable to check the availability and to reserve a tee time with your smartphone for the next day. Wi-Fi access in the entire area is free - currently at the parking areas Wi-Fi is not available yet.

Day 2 (67 kilometers)

The breakfast for the next day you should have brought for your own, because in the clubhouse until 10:00 you will only get some coffee. Smaller shops, supermarkets and cafes are in the nearby town of Ulrichsberg. Then check-in at the Golf Park office as a camper and pay your green fee. The driving range and practice area is free of charge - balls you get with 2 €uro-coins. Then you can expect a first golfing highlight of your golf journey through Austria. The hilly 18-hole championship course (par 72) of Golfpark Böhmerwald is for beginners and experts a cool challenge. The tracks are very exciting and perfectly maintained. On the lanes 7 to 12 you will rarely have a straight stand except in the teebox and on the green. Golfers are able to show their skills and latest on hole 13 you are rewarded with a brilliant view down to the small "Beavervalley". There you will find fresh water out of a spring, a psychologically challenging water hazard, and in high summer pleasant temperatures. As a special on the edge the Golfpark Böhmerwald - together with the whole region - has focused on herbs. On the 18 holes and later in the restaurant are able to get a little insight into the local herbs variety.

After the round enjoy a café and homemade cakes on the panoramic terrace at the clubhouse. Then you you travel eastwards. Your next destination is the ÖCC- and ADAC Camping by Hildegard Duschl about 70 km away from the Golfpark Böhmerwald. The 40 very quiet and idyllic plots are located in just 5 minutes to the charming old town of Freistadt. Next to the campsite there is a tennis facility with 8 outdoor and 3 indoor tennis courts, 1 squash court, table tennis and even a sauna. Before dinner, still worth a short walk through the beautiful old town of the capital of the Mühlviertel. For a great dinner and drinks we recommend one of the many restaurant and pubs in Freistadt. The restaurant "Die Schlemmerei (The gluttony)" right at the campground is also a good place for your dinner. Reserve your tee time in GC St.Oswald today and sign up definitely for your tomorrow's breakfast, because the site offers a breakfast service for the next day.

Day 3 (64 kilometers)

After breakfast you close down your "tent" and travel for 10 km towards the east. You park your RV at the Golf Club St. Oswald- Freistadt for free. From almost all holes you have a wonderful view of the entire golf course. Fast greens, water hazards in every shape and size, varied fairways and well-positioned teeboxes make the charm of this place. As a special highlight you await one of the longest "Par 5" in Europe with 612 meters! After a small or large strengthening in the club restaurant, you travel towards the south to Linz the capital of Upper Austria.

Also for RVs Linz is easy to drive.  You pass the world famous ArsElectronica Center on the Nibelungen Bridge and see from there the modern LENTOS. Park your RV near to the LENTOS and stroll through the picturesque downtown, walk the "Höhenrausch" over the roofs of Linz or enjoy beach feeling in the "sandcastle" at the river Danube. Then it's off again about 30 minutes on the highway south to the campsite on Pichlingersee. About 100 coveted places for tourists are your stop for the night. If you have not eaten in Linz or fire your private barbecue, there is an excellent restaurant on the lake. By now, you should book your tee time for the next day at the Golf Club St.Florian-Tillysburg.

If you want to avoid Linz, then there is an alternative route via the Danube Bridge in Mauthausen. If you take this route you will arrive to the campsite at Pichlingersee from the east.

Day 4 (117 kilometers)

Day 5 (Departure)

If you want to save the daily camping fee for the 2nd day, check-out and drive back to the main street. Open the gate to the golf course and park your RV on a rear parking in the shade. In Mondsee you have no start times, 1st come - 1st play. It is worth more to enjoy an espresso at the bar or watching other golfers at the tee and maybe get a few valuable tips.

The 18 tracks in Mondsee are difficult because of many shallow bunkers, narrow paths and of course the huge quarry in the middle of the square, which comes into your game, especially on the back 9. At the end of the round, we recommend a dip in the quarry which was developed directly as a lake in front of the changing rooms.
From Mondsee there are still about 30 km to the City of Salzburg. From the highway you can see the fortress of Hohensalzburg. Those who wish to strengthen for the journey home again, should just leave the motorway at Salzburg-Klessheim. There the Soccer Arena of RedBull Salzburg you find the well-known restaurant "Bull's Corner" - located on the west side of the stadium. You park the RV in front of the restaurant. Then it's off back to the highway and another 10 kilometers to the border crossing at Walserberg to Germany.
